Bakul (Hindi: बकुल) - Mimusops elengi- Bakul or Maulsari is an evergreen tree with sweet scented flowers and it is often grown as garden tree. This is a large glabrous evergreen tree which may grow up to 50 feet in height & 3 feet circumference.  The dense canopy of the Bakul tree provides a cool shade.  This tree keeps the vicinity cool and during the months of summer, it fills the air around with the heady fragrance of its flowers. In the morning the fragrant flowers drop to the ground. Its timber is valuable, the fruit is edible, and it is used in traditional medicine.  It is a prized collection of gardens. It is grown as an avenue tree also. So It is  a very versatile plant / tree.
